Change Your World Toms River
THE MOVEMENT
The event titled ‘How to Change Your World’ was a celebration and an informative evening of two local charities: Ocean County Hunger Relief and Ocean County Right to Life. Nearly 400 area residents attended the evening which featured three Christian rock bands including Kutless who have sold over 1.5 million records, Seventh Time Down, and a local band formed in 2006 consisting of Ocean County teens and college age students called The Eternal Affect.
Move the Earth did not take any proceeds from the event. All money raised above costs was donated to the host church Abundant Grace and the two charities Ocean County Hunger Relief and Ocean County Right to Life. Joe Latiff from OC Hunger Relief spoke to the audience explaining the impact that Hunger Relief has in the local community as they feed 1000 families a week with 50% of the clients being children. Frank Streibig and Karyn Fusco who represented 40 Days for Life of Toms River, both communicated the purpose of the team’s prayer vigils on Route 37 in Toms River. Shawn Hyland from Move the Earth challenged the nights attendees to go beyond themselves and help the least among us as 2000 people per year in Ocean County, at one time or another, depend on homeless shelters and social services to provide housing for their family.
Move the Earth will continue to present like events throughout the area, including partnering with The Eternal Affect to reach our young generation. Shawn Hyland said, “Look for more ‘How to Change Your World’ events throughout Ocean County and the state of NJ as we will feature top Christian rock bands with a bold and provocative message of absolute truth that will challenge the current trends and beliefs of the government, the church, the culture, and individual lives to a generation that so desperately needs it.”
